5 Simple Tips for Losing Weight This Summer

Summer is the season when you’re usually most conscious of how your body looks. Wearing less clothing exposes more than you wish you had to expose when you’re overweight. There are some simple tips that can help you lose that weight so you won’t feel so self-conscious. If you follow them, you might even get some compliments on how great you look in that new bathing suit.

1. Get the Right Amount of Sleep

Too little sleep has a good deal of impact on your weight. If you’re too tired to exercise, you’re probably going to skip it not only because of how tired you feel, but because the brain that is tired is less likely to be able to make good decisions. This diminished brain function due to lack of sleep can also cause you to make poor food choices. Seven to nine hours of sleep is what most people need. Getting too much sleep can be just as detrimental.

2. Drink Lots of Water

Not only does it help flush waste out of your system, water helps to satiate the appetite. You’ll be less likely to get those nasty food cravings if you’ve plied yourself with plenty of water, starting first thing in the morning. Since water helps in the digestion of food, it also helps you to burn calories.

3. Snack in the Afternoon

It has been proven that a high protein snack is actually a help to shedding pounds. The time of day you choose to indulge in the snack is as important as the snack itself. Mid-afternoon is far better than mid-morning. People who snack in the morning tend to eat more throughout the day, but those who snack mid-afternoon tend to make better snack choices, and may find themselves eating less at dinner.

4. Eat Salads as Full Meals

Making a salad a complete meal is a great way to get all the nutrients you need in a satisfying, low-calorie meal. Mix leafy greens with lean chicken or salmon. Add some nuts or croutons and a drizzle of dressing to satisfy your need to be naughty, and you’ll find yourself feeling full and lighter.

5. Do Deep Breathing Exercises

Deep breathing can help reduce stress associated with weight gain. Become mindful of your breathing, and take some time each day to concentrate on it. Deep breathing increases the oxygen in your system which burns fat. It also increases the metabolism and aids in digestion.

You can see that without much effort you can lose some weight with very simple ideas and techniques. Give them a try for a week or two. When you see the difference, you’ll make them a part of your life.
